A Stitch in Time

Grandma Fry came to visit this week. She made quite the trip, stopping to see all her kids along the way. Unfortunately, she also hit every snow storm from here to Seattle. Lucky for us, the weather was pretty nice for the days she was here and she was able to spend some time outside walking with Mason. Grandma Fry also happens to be a world class quilter/seamstress/can make anything. We were able to get some fabric and an awesome quilt frame and start a new project so I could pick her brain.
I'm in love with the frame and how convenient it will be, but hopefully once we move we'll be able to get a place that is at least a little bigger than our current apartment so I'll be able to leave it up to work on projects without filling our whole living room.
Closer shot of the actual quilt.
Mason has also decided that it's his favorite place to play. He likes to get under it and roll all over and around it. It's light enough that he's able to move it by himself too, which he finds pretty entertaining.
So, the point of this quilt was for Grandma Fry to teach me how to hand quilt. She tried to teach me the tricks of the trade, and while I'm still terribly amateur I find it quite enjoyable. I'm fairly certain I've found my new favorite hobby. So, until I get good enough to actually give anything away, you can just enjoy pictures that aren't taken closely enough to see the flaws :)
