Birthday Pancake

Today is Mike's 27th birthday. He opened a present this morning before school. We also gave Mason one of his Christmas presents (he was going to get it before we leave for Idaho this weekend anyway since it's too big to take with us).

He has played with this toy ALL day long. Best $10 I ever spent.

While Mike was at school we made him a cake. Mason's favorite thing to do lately is have the light on in the oven when something is cooking so he can smoosh his face to the oven door to check if it's done yet. When we took the cake out of the oven, Mason wanted to eat some of the "birthday pancake." Then, when I was frosting it he was crying because I wouldn't let him have any birthday pancake....sounds kind of sad, but it was pretty funny. 

After dinner, Mike opened more presents...

Then, we FINALLY got to eat the birthday pancake...but by this time Mason had started calling it birthday cake. He even pulled out a candle, took a bite of wax, and said "Mmmm, yummy birtday cate."

 You can see their faces better on my camera as they're blowing out the candles. Guess you'll just have to take my word for it.
