Mischief Managed...Sort of

Mason has been walking and very much on the move lately. He's always been VERY mobile, but since walking began he's turned into some kind of monkey. He climbs on everything. Today, we were all lounging in the living room enjoying our Sunday afternoon. All of a sudden, Mike jumps up and says "Kayla, look at him!" I glance over to the table and Mason has slid over the case to my sewing machine, used it as a step to get up on the chair and had found the scissors that were on the table. For those of you who don't know, our dining room set is tall. So, not only could he have seriously hurt himself with the scissors he nabbed, he easily could have fallen off that chair...yikes!
He really freaks me out sometimes. We keep a baby gate on our stairs so he can't go up them forwards, but now he just tries to climb up them sideways holding onto the railing and the slight step that is on the outside of the railing. (I'll really have to get a pic of this next time he does it because words don't do it justice)
Yesterday, I could hear Mason playing in the kitchen. I usually let him kind of do what he wants depending on the noises he making because most of the time I can tell whether he's up to no good or not. I could hear him throwing things around, but there were more things being thrown that he should have been able to reach. I walked into the kitchen, and he had pulled down the door to the dishwasher, climbed up onto it and was pulling out the utensils one at a time and throwing them onto the floor.
Sometimes he really makes me feel like an inattentive parent. I swear I'm not, but sometimes I don't know how he manages to do the things he does in what seems like 10 seconds that I look away. If he's this mischievous before he's even one, I'm not sure what I'll do once we get to terrible 2.

  1. We had a good chuckle! Dustin loved the dish washer story! He sounds to smart for his own good! To cute!!! Gotta love him! And all kids sneak into trouble at that age, even if you are watching! You aren't a bad parent! At least you caught him before he got hurt!
